The Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) Course is the ideal pathway for PADI Assistant Instructors (AI) and Instructors from other diving organizations to elevate their careers. This intensive 5-day course immerses candidates in the PADI System of Instruction, focusing on teaching techniques and essential standards required for courses that a certified PADI OWSI is authorized to teach.

Our OWSI program is designed for those who already possess teaching skills, emphasizing the PADI approach to instruction and Training Standards. This course equips PADI Assistant Instructors and external instructors to successfully pass the PADI Instructor Examination (IE) conducted by expert PADI Examiners. Although instructors from other organizations are generally well-qualified, we recommend completing the full Instructor Development Course (IDC) to ensure optimal preparation for the Instructor Examination.

As a certified PADI OWSI, you'll be qualified to teach various courses, from Discover Scuba Diving to Dive Master certifications. You can also enhance your credentials by becoming a Specialty Instructor, which allows you to offer specialty diving courses, increasing your marketability and expertise. Prerequisites for the PADI OWSI Course:

• Must be a PADI Assistant Instructor, PADI Instructor, or an instructor in good standing with a recognized diver training organization for at least 6 months.
• Minimum age: 18 years.
• Medical clearance signed by a physician within the last 12 months.
• Must have been a certified diver for at least 6 months.
• Completed Emergency First Response (EFR) Primary and Secondary Care Course (or equivalent training) within the past 24 months.
• Current EFR Instructor or equivalent certification in CPR/First Aid instruction.
• Documentation of non-PADI qualifying entry-level, advanced, rescue, and leadership certifications.
